Description
British Canoeing Awarding Body SUP Instructor
Who: open to paddleboarders over age 14. Candidates need to have competency in rescue and personal skills (please contact us for details) prior to booking course. Ideal for those who would like to introduce people to paddleboarding under the umbrella of a club, organisation, or centre.
What: throughout the 2-day mostly practical course. You will explore how to run intro sessions exploring strategies, challenges, games, and short journeys to support learning. Candidates will also need to competently complete a number rescue tasks.
How: we support your learning by using a blend of practical on the water, group professional conversations and rescue tasks.
Where: the course will run in the Shrewsbury area on the River Severn or other
suitable very sheltered water environment.

What to bring
Personal paddling clothing, notebook etc., packed lunch and willingness to actively engage.

My paddling journey began in childhood with my family and local canoe club. Over the years I have paddled all sorts of craft in many different environments. Immersed in paddlesport coaching for over 30 years, working with a huge range of paddlers on their own personal journeys. I am a BCU Level 5 coach, British Canoeing Technical Group member, and British Canoeing Awarding Body Provider.
I have always been interested in learning and coaching and in recent years gaining BSc Hons in Sport Science and MSc in Sport Coaching. Currently, I am a PhD researcher of sport coaching at University of Derby
