British Canoeing Core Coach Training
Who: open to paddlers interested in introducing others to Paddlesport and a great CPD
option for those who already have a British Canoeing coaching award.
What: throughout the 2-day course you will be introduced to and explore coaching concepts, models and
approaches which can help support and shape your own coaching practice.
How: we support your coach learning by using a blend of classroom sessions, practical on the water
and group professional conversations.
Where: the course will run in the Shrewsbury area on the River Severn or other suitable sheltered water environment.
All coach learners must be ‘On the Water’ British Canoeing Members and it is recommended
to be paddling at least at Explore level to get the most out of the course.
Although coach learners are not required to register with British Canoeing Coach Award prior to Core Coach
Training it is worth considering; especially if you are intending to complete the British
Canoeing Coach Award.
When registered you can access Coach Award eLearning which provides a valuable foundation resource for both Core and Discipline Specific Training.
What to bring
Personal paddling kit, notebook etc., packed lunch and willingness to actively engage.
Canoes, kayaks, and SUPs will be available if required.
I have started paddling in my childhood with family and local canoe club. I have over 30
coaching experience and hold BCU Level 5 coach award. I have always been interested in
learning and coaching and in recent years I have gained BSc Hons in Sport Science and MSc
in Sport Coaching.
