The Paddle into the Past Tours take place on the River Severn in Shrewsbury and are a journey around the river loop in Canoes exploring the cultural history and connection between river and town.
We meet just after 6pm, Frankwell Recreation Ground – Canoe Ramp and finish at Shrewsbury Weir approx 8.30pm
Parking
You can either leave your vehicle at the start in the carpark (free after 6pm) walking back at the end of the tour. Alternatively park at Shrewsbury Weir, Castlfields side of the river which is at the end of the tour. Allow 25 minutes to get to the start.
To find FRANKWELL CANOE RAMP: To find this drive into the Frankwell car park past Theatre Severn and the Guildhall now University Centre Shrewsbury. When in the car park take the first right and drive towards the footbridge, then turn left 50m or so in front of you are gates into the recreation field – the canoe ramp is just there on the riverside. It’s not difficult to find but isn’t easily seen from the car park. Toilet facilities are available in the cricket pavilion not far from the canoe ramp.
Please park in the main carpark, as the gates into the cricket field are locked.
